Welcome Home Lightnin’ Stone was a multimedia performance project, created by  artsworkers of the Blue Mountains working in partnership with local residents. We began developing it in 2009, with a working title of Foundation, and it evolved over two years with the support of Blue Mountains City Council, Illuminart, and D’lux Media Arts.

The project involved research leading toward the creation of a multimedia performance that tells the story of a man who uncovers his unknown ancestry and family. The story interweaves themes of journeys to find your family tree, Ancestry as a form of heritage, and commemoration of crossing the Blue Mountains. A showing of the performance work in progress, the play ‘Welcome Home Lightnin’ Stone.’ was held on 18th March, 2011. The project was discontinued in June 2011, but the archive of research and project work will remain at this site for reference by the community of the Blue Mountains.
